One Minute Stress Relief

You may have heard that when people are stressed out, their breathing becomes shallow. Accompanying shallow breaths can be thoughts of negativity and overwhelm.

The tip I’m going to share with you can override both of these stress responses in a minute or less. It’s called Affirmative Breathing. Want to try?

First, pick an affirmative thought from this list –

• I appreciate all that I do

• I can handle whatever comes my way

• My thinking is clear; my body is relaxed

• I feel deeply nourished doing what I do

Next, inhale deeply while thinking this affirmation in your mind. Hold your breath and think the affirmation in your mind again. Now release your breath with an audible “aaaah” sound.

Let’s try it together with my favorite affirmation on the list…

Inhale: I feel deeply nourished doing what I do

Hold: I feel deeply nourished doing what I do

Release: Aaaaaaaah.

If you do this for a minute, you’ll feel a whole lot better.
